What I'm fixing
The gap between scattered soil data and decision-ready soil health intelligence. Organisations need a clearer way to understand how soil health varies across land, where uncertainty remains, and where further investigation is most valuable.
How I'm fixing it
SCALA's approach is designed to generate continuous soil-health maps, quantify uncertainty and support more targeted ground investigation.

Current focus
Customer discovery and validation, with a focus on mining rehabilitation and government/NRM use cases while continuing to test applications in agribusiness lending and corporate supply chains. In parallel, we are establishing the company and preparing the methodology for initial pilots.
In their words
- What problem are you solving?
- Soil health matters to land value, resilience and environmental outcomes, but it is still difficult to measure consistently and at scale. Existing approaches often rely on fragmented data and limited point sampling, making it difficult for organisations managing or assessing large areas of land to understand soil health spatially and confidently.
- Who does it help?
- Organisations that need to assess or manage soil health across large areas, including government and NRM organisations, mining rehabilitation teams, agribusiness lenders, corporate supply chains and institutional land managers.
- What is the innovation?
- SCALA turns complex and fragmented soil information into scalable, spatial soil-health intelligence. It provides a consistent view of soil health across land, together with the level of confidence in that information, helping organisations make better-informed decisions about where to act or investigate further.
- What are your biggest hurdles?
- Validating the methodology in real operational settings, securing the right first pilot partners, and translating a strong technical methodology into a scalable product that fits real organisational decision-making.
- What do you need?
- Access to potential pilot partners and decision-makers, particularly organisations managing or assessing land at scale; feedback on priority use cases; and connections to the right technical, commercial and funding networks.
- Would you like to collaborate?
- maybe
